Home pain management regimes are generally initiated when oral or transdermal medications are no longer effective. The medications are administered by intravenous, subcutaneous, epidural or intrathecal methods. Our team of clinical experts will work with the physician to provide the optimal therapy to reduce or eliminate pain and that can be managed effectively and safely in the home.
Pain medications can be given via a CADD PCA pump with a continuous rate of pain medicine, a continuous rate with an “on demand” dose or strictly “on demand” doses. This is known as PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia). The PCA is more effective for pain management and it puts the patient in control. It is always more effective to stay ahead of the pain than to try and “catch up” once the pain is out of control.
